Pack It Up, Move It Out

The big moving day is quickly approaching!  This week our apartment is a mess of boxes and stuff as we sort through everything and pack it away in said boxes (which were all found for free around the boarding school campus where we live... thrifty to the end :).  Our Etsy shop is officially on vacation, and most of our Etsy items are all packed up in those boxes in the corner (plus three more boxes I just packed after taking this picture)... it's amazing how much stuff we still have, even after our giant yard sale!

We do have a few thrifted items from earlier this week which we will be sharing in our usual Nifty Thrifty post, but after that I can't guarantee that we'll be able keep up with our normal posts until we get to California in just under two weeks from now.  We're planning to post some pictures from the road on Twitter and Facebook, so make sure you follow and like us to keep up with our travels!

Any moving tips?  Fancy packing or truck driving techniques?  Advice on traveling cross country with pets?  General words of wisdom?

  1. Pack a set of forks, knives, spoons, one pot, one fry pan, can opener, cork screw and two plates and two glasses in something that goes with you in the vehicle. Also two towels and one roll of toilet paper. Buy some wine and munchies as soon as you get there. Cheers!

  2. Stop often and take your time if possible. The less stressed you guys are, the less stressed your critters will be. Good luck and have fun!
Oh, baby wipes are always helpful since road trips can be a bit sticky...

  3. While moving boxes are great to pack items well as then there will be no risk of damage. One can also label them because unpacking items then it is easy to find them. But otherwise you have told good information. Thanks for this.

  4. I moved house 2months ago. I would suggest those fruit and veg boxes. The ones bananas and apples come in.These are not huge but are very strong and stack on each other very good.

  5. Excellent post. I was checking constantly this blog and I am impressed! Extremely helpful info particularly the last part
