|I call it the peacock corner.|
Working from the bottom (and the most exciting part in my opinion) on up, we have:
Our new cowhide! Isn't it a beauty? We found it on craigslist the other day, and immediately went crazy over the beautiful brindle brown. We also bought a lovely cowhide throw pillow from the very nice woman for a total of $90, which, if you have ever looked at the cost of a nice cowhide, is a ridiculously good deal. She said this was from her sister's farm and they usually sell them for about $600, plus we got the pillow, too!
Then there's our Peacock chair (Savers for $12), an IKEA sheepskin ($25), our "Don't Tread on Me" handmade pillow (estate sale for a very small amount I can't remember right now), a basic round retro side table (estate sale for $5), and a few bits and pieces that we had lying around, which were all used and super cheap or free (like we do).
BOOM. Awesome little reading/sitting corner (though mostly we just enjoy looking at it from afar) for just over $100, though all the pieces were collected over time.
Now a little zoom-out so you can see where this space fits into our place:
|JFK is watching you.|
Our new apartment has all sorts of nooks and crannies to fill, and this particular spot is in an odd corner in the living room right next to the kitchen. In the corresponding odd corner to the left we have our little bar (craigslist for $80 awhile ago), complete with lots of vintage barware we thrifted, an IKEA clock, and our lovely vintage Vietnamese JFK painting ($15 at a yard sale).
But seriously... just look at that beautiful cow. I can't get over how gorgeous it is.
What do you think of our little corner area? Have you been lusting over cowhides like we were until we found ours? Do you have a reading nook that you actually use (or not)? Any other great ideas for filling odd corners like these?
